Home School Meme

Amy of amyable has tagged me with a home school meme. For those readers not familiar with this little game of blogosphere-tag, it is just a sort of fill in the blank, get to know you, share your ideas activity. There are "meme's" for nearly any topic but the type that get passed around the Real Learning blogs tend towards home schooling and literature subjects. Anyway, here goes:

1) ONE HOMESCHOOLING BOOK YOU HAVE ENJOYED:

Honestly, I have not actually read a lot of books about home education. Of those I have read, I only regularly return to one: Real Learning: Education in the Heart of the Home by the lovely Elizabeth Foss.

2)ONE RESOURCE YOU COULDN'T BE WITHOUT

Prayer life for sustenance and perserverance. My husband to keep me grounded and on course. Real life and Real Learning friends for inspiration, ideas, prayer, and a lot of good laughs. Sandpaper letters and moveable alphabet for teaching reading and writing. And, of course, my children for motivation, inspiration, and good times.

I know, I know, that is more than one.

3) ONE RESOURCE YOU WISH YOU HAD NEVER BOUGHT

A few little odds and ends, but no major regrets. Just wish we had the time to use all of the wonderful resources I own.

4) ONE RESOURCE YOU ENJOYED LAST YEAR

I really enjoyed our home library and our local Half Price Books store. We used so many great books, from the albeit outdated and quaint Child's History of the World by Hillyer to the beautiful volume The Holy Bible: Places & Stories from the Old & New Testament by Gianni Guadaluppi and everything in between.

5) ONE RESOURCE YOU WILL BE USING NEXT YEAR

Thanks to Lissa, we made a last minute switch to Latin for Children. We just started it today. What an engaging and amusing program! Who knew learning Church Latin could be so much fun?!

However, I have to confess that I am mostly excited about a resource that I have not yet revealed to the children. Sometime in the next couple of weeks I will unveil the surprise!

6) ONE RESOURCE YOU WOULD LIKE TO BUY

For this year, we are pretty much set except I would like a DVD of a Latin Tridentine Mass for our in depth study of the Mass. Ooh, and a low, oversized coffee table so we can sit on the floor and research and discuss together.

7) ONE RESOURCE YOU WISH EXISTED

I have to agree with Amy on this one: a 36 hour day would be awfully nice.

8) ONE HOMESCHOOLING CATALOGUE YOU ENJOY READING

Child of the World from the Michael Olaf Company. It is beautiful and only comes out once a year!

9) ONE HOMESCHOOLING WEBSITE YOU USE REGULARLY
