zipper-dee doo dah

Okay, so I realize this is not a big deal for many of the faithful readers of this blog, but this summer I successfully made a project that required a zipper. Nervously following the simple instructions provided by Amy Karol in her new book, Bend the Rules Sewing, I made this little zippered bag. The bag part was very easy-it was the zipper that unnerved me. But you know, the zipper was pretty easy, too!

Ironically, as I look down my list of upcoming sewing and crafting projects, none seem to require the installation of a zipper. But as this petite bag was so simple and has come in rather handy, perhaps I will whip up a few more just to feel like I own the zipper process.
Currently I am finishing a dress for a new baby girl and then it is on to a new skill: snaps. As soon as that dress gets sent off, I plan to make some bibs, a la Amy Karol, for a couple more babies who are on the way. Pictures of these projects and a little blogging from Sunshine about her recent crafting are forthcoming.
P.S.--Stop over at the rare superbuzzy sale for some scrumptious fabrics. Japanese imports to delight any fabric lover.

I'm impressed. I've never had the courage to tackle zippers yet, but it's one of my goals as I want to learn to make my own clothes. Good luck with the snaps!
