These shoes, I daresay, were a breeze to make and lots of fun, too! Michelle Q. of On Pins and Needles has a full color tutorial including lots of jazzy little variations. An important part of any gift experience is the presentation and experience of unveiling of the hidden treasure. I always feel it is important to take time in the wrapping of a gift, or at least as much time as practicalities allow. The best gift comes wrapped in layers that appeal to several senses...touch, sight, and smells. A textured wrapping paper or a silky ribbon, a monochromatic tower of boxes tied together with a colorful ribbon, a pretty sheet of tissue paper around the item within a box, a little bar of scented soap or some herbal tea bags thrown in for aroma...these simple elements uplift the memory of receiving and opening the gift.
As it was, practical considerations did not allow for a lot of gift wrapping time today. But I picked-up this charming, textured Martha Stewart wrapping paper recently knowing that it would be perfect for this little baby gift. The green ground is just perfect for a little boy, the dots add bit of fun and texture (some of them are velvety and raised). And inside, the shoes are filled with green tissue paper and the bibs are layered with the same. Darling!
Several of the MS wrapping papers are marked down at Michael's stores ($3). Thanks to Jordan of Oh Happy Day for the tip on that sale. Also, I am told that the Michael's 40% coupons will now apply to the MS merchandise. I haven't personally verified this, but I hope it is true!
