and on the thirteenth day of Christmas

And on the thirteenth day of Christmas, our family Christmas cards arrived in the mail. There was a bit of an ordering mishap, you see. Really it has to do with the fact that during pregnancy and lacatation, my four children received the majority of my brain cells. This fifth baby is apparently taking his or her share. Really, I was certain that one night in late-ish December I placed an order for 75 Christmas cards and a couple of miscellaneous prints. I even popped for express shipping. So a few days later when an envelop of 12 cards arrived with the information that our order would be "shipped in multiple installments," I thought it a bit odd, but didn't dwell on it.

The Prof quickly mailed out the dozen cards while we nervously awaited the next wave of multiple shipments. A couple of days later, the miscellaneous prints arrived. Good. Then nothing. Finally on the 26th, I went online to check the order history. Hmmm. Seems the record shows I actually only order 12 cards and our order was complete. Which brings to mind the very interesting fact I once heard that a woman's brain actually shrinks 8 to 10% during pregnancy---and, mind you, does not return to full size until six months postpartum. (And nevermind any one who refutes the statiscal reality of this study.)

So now we feverishly address envelopes, write personal messages and include an obligatory apology for the lateness of the holiday wishes. At least it is still Christmastide. Right? I mean everyone knows about Candlemas, no doubt. Well anyway, the cards are on their merry way.

I will return soon to reflect on the lovlieness of the season and our celebrations...

Merry Christmas, anyways. Cards or no cards! Such a cute picture of the kids!
