First this arrived in my inbox last week:
I'm assuming you have all heard that there was a cougar seen near the intersection of [two streets near the Suburban Ranch]. I have now heard (second hand but reliable sources) that Tx Parks and Wildlife has confirmed the rumor; they found it's tracks and a consumed deer carcass. They estimate it is a 150 lb cougar. They are trying to capture it and relocate, hopefully soon!
But, today this arrived:
There was a mountain lion reported on a neighborhood street. One
of our Game Wardens responded to the sighting. He looked over the area
where the mountain lion was supposedly seen but found only dog tracks.
He drove the area around the neighborhood and noted goats in the yard
behind the house where the sighting occurred. The goats did not appear
anxious nor did any of the dogs and various house cats. He also said
when he arrived there were deer feeding nearby, the woman who had the
sighting said she had never seen a deer in the area. He only found
dog tracks in the area of the sighting. Our conclusion at this time is
that there is no evidence of a mountain lion in that area but we
encourage residents to continue to report sightings and we will try to
continue to investigate.
